Scale

Ingredients

  • 200 grams feta cheese
  • 2 medium ripe tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 small chili pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Chop the tomatoes into medium-sized pieces and thinly slice the chili pepper. Cut the feta cheese into blocks or leave it as a whole block depending on your baking dish.
  2. Assemble in baking dish: Place the feta cheese in an oven-safe baking dish. Scatter the chopped tomatoes and sliced chili evenly over and around the cheese. Drizzle the olive oil over the top to add richness and help meld the flavors during baking.
  3. Bake the dish: Put the baking dish into the oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the feta is soft and starting to turn golden around the edges, and the tomatoes have softened and released their juices.
  4. Serve warm: Remove from the oven and serve immediately while warm. This dish tastes best paired with fresh bread for dipping into the melted feta and tomato sauce.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of chili according to your spice preference or omit it for a milder version.
  • Using a good quality extra virgin olive oil enhances the flavor significantly.
  • This dish is traditionally served as an appetizer in Greek cuisine, ideal for sharing.
  • If you want a more textured dish, add some chopped onions or herbs like oregano or thyme before baking.
