Matcha Lemonade Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder
  • 1 cup water (hot or cold)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons sweetener (honey, agave syrup, or sugar), to taste
  • Ice cubes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Matcha: Sift 1 teaspoon of matcha powder into a bowl to avoid clumps. Add 2-3 tablespoons of hot water (not boiling, about 175°F or 80°C) and whisk vigorously in a zig-zag motion with a bamboo whisk or small regular whisk until the matcha is fully dissolved and frothy.
  2. Add Lemon Juice and Sweetener: Pour the freshly squeezed lemon juice and your desired amount of sweetener into the matcha mixture. Stir well until the sweetener is completely dissolved and evenly mixed.
  3. Mix with Water and Serve: Add the remaining water (cold or at room temperature) to the matcha-lemon mixture and stir thoroughly. If desired, add ice cubes to chill the lemonade before serving.

Notes

  • Use high-quality ceremonial grade matcha powder for best flavor and vibrant color.
  • Adjust the sweetness according to your taste preference.
  • Do not use boiling water to whisk matcha as it can make it bitter.
  • For a sparkling version, substitute still water with sparkling water.
