A refreshing and easy-to-make Potsticker Dumpling Salad combining crispy dumplings with fresh cabbage, crunchy carrots, and green onions, all tossed in a flavorful sesame dressing. Perfect as a light lunch or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

Dumplings

  • 12 frozen potsticker dumplings

Vegetables

  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced

Sesame Dressing

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Cook Dumplings: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of oil and place the frozen dumplings flat side down. Cook for about 2 minutes until the bottoms turn golden brown. Add 1/4 cup water, cover, and steam the dumplings for 5-6 minutes until cooked through and water has evaporated. Remove the lid and cook for an additional 1 minute to re-crisp the bottoms.
  2. Prepare Vegetables: While dumplings cook, shred the cabbage and carrots, and thinly slice the green onions. Combine all vegetables in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Make Dressing: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, toasted sesame oil, honey, grated ginger, sesame seeds, and red pepper flakes if using, until well combined.
  4. Toss Salad: Add the cooked dumplings to the bowl of vegetables. Pour the sesame dressing over the salad and gently toss until everything is evenly coated.
  5. Serve: Transfer the salad to a serving dish and garnish with additional sesame seeds or green onions if desired. Serve immediately for best texture.

Notes

  • You can use either pan-fried or steamed dumplings depending on your preference, but pan-frying adds a nice crispy texture.
  • Feel free to add other crunchy vegetables like bell peppers or snow peas for more variety.
  • The salad is best served fresh; leftovers may lose the crispness of the dumplings.
  • For a gluten-free version, choose gluten-free dumplings and tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • Adjust dressing ingredients to taste, adding more honey for sweetness or rice vinegar for acidity.
