Fritters Batter
- 1 cup sweetcorn kernels (fresh, canned, or frozen)
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Vegetable oil for frying (about 1/4 cup)
- Prepare the Batter: In a mixing bowl, combine the sweetcorn kernels, flour, egg, milk, and salt. Stir well until all ingredients are fully incorporated to form a thick batter.
- Heat the Oil: Pour enough oil into a frying pan to cover the bottom about 1/4 inch deep. Heat the oil over medium heat until hot but not smoking, about 2-3 minutes.
- Fry the Fritters: Drop spoonfuls of batter carefully into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry each fritter for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they turn golden brown and crisp.
- Drain and Serve: Use a slotted spoon to remove the fritters from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve warm as a snack or side dish.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add chopped herbs like chives or parsley to the batter.
- Can be served with a dipping sauce such as sour cream, aioli, or sweet chili sauce.
- Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying to avoid greasy fritters.
- Leftover fritters can be reheated in a skillet to retain crispiness.
