Ingredients

Scale

Croissants

  • 4 large croissants, torn into bite-sized pieces

Egg Mixture

  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your favorite blend)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Croissants: Tear the croissants into bite-sized pieces and evenly layer them in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish to form the base of the casserole.
  2. Mix Eggs and Milk: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Add Cheese and Pour Mixture: Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the croissants. Pour the egg and milk mixture evenly over the croissants to soak them thoroughly. Top with the remaining cheese.
  4. Bake the Casserole: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the casserole uncovered for 35-40 minutes, or until the egg is set and the top is golden brown.
  5. Cool and Serve: Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving warm.

Notes

  • You can add cooked breakfast meats like bacon or sausage for extra flavor.
  • Vegetables such as spinach, mushrooms, or bell peppers can be added to the egg mixture or layered with the croissants.
  • For a lighter version, use low-fat milk and reduced-fat cheese.
  • This casserole can be prepared the night before and baked in the morning for a convenient breakfast.
