Filling Ingredients
- 1 can (15 oz) pumpkin puree
- 3 large eggs
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Crust
- 1 pre-made 9-inch pie crust (or homemade equivalent)
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking when the pie filling is prepared.
- Prepare Filling: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree, eggs, brown sugar, heavy cream, bourbon, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and salt until the mixture is smooth and evenly combined.
- Assemble Pie: Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish, crimping the edges if desired. Pour the pumpkin filling into the crust, spreading it evenly.
- Bake Pie: Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the filling is set and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. If the crust edges begin to brown too quickly, cover them with foil or a pie shield.
- Cool: Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack to allow the filling to set fully before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use canned pumpkin puree for the best consistency and flavor.
- Adjust the amount of bourbon according to your preference; the alcohol cooks off leaving the flavor behind.
- Cover the crust edges with foil partway through baking to prevent over-browning.
- Allow the pie to cool completely to ensure clean slices.
- Serve with whipped cream for an extra indulgent treat.
