Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce and beef mixture: In a small bowl, combine the corn flour, water, soy sauce, grated ginger, sugar, and sesame oil to create a sauce. Gradually add this sauce to the ground beef and finely chopped onion mixture, stirring continuously to ensure the sauce is fully absorbed. Add the sauce slowly for even absorption.
  2. Assemble the pies: Cut the store-bought pastry into approximately 8 cm squares. Place a portion of the beef mixture onto each pastry square. Fold or cover as desired and crimp the edges shut with a fork to seal the filling inside. Place the sealed pies on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  3. Finish and bake: Brush the tops of the pies with beaten egg yolk to achieve a golden finish. Sprinkle sesame seeds generously over each pie. Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F) and bake the pies for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the pastry is crisp and golden brown.
